The battle for gold in Men’s Handball at the 2016 Rio Olympics looks to be a competitive race. Here is a look at the odds to win.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, France is favored to win the gold, as it has +116 odds. Other short odds to win are Denmark (+299) and Germany (+597). The Rio Olympics take place from August 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
France won the gold at the 2012 and 2008 Olympics for handball. They also are the 2015 and 2011 World Champions in the event.
Denmark only reached the quarterfinals of the 2012 Olympics while finishing seventh in 2008. Their top Olympic performance was fourth in 1984. They placed second in the 2013 and 2011 World Championships.
Germany didn’t qualify for the Olympics in 2012 and finished ninth in 2008. They did take home the silver in 2004 and last won gold in 1936. Their last World Championship was in 2007.
