Men’s High Jump Free Pick

A gold medal will be claimed today in the Men’s High Jump at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Who will come away with the win.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Mutaz Essa Barshim is favored to win, as he has +175 odds. Other short odds to prevail are Bohdan Bondarenko (+200) and Derek Drouin (+350). The finals of the Men’s High Jump is scheduled to take place today at 7:30PM ET from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Bet on the Rio Olympics

Barshim competes for Qatar. He was the 2012 bronze medal winner at the Olympics and has since won the 2014 World Indoor Championship. His top jump has been 2.38 meters.

Bondarenko competes for the Ukraine. He is seeking his first Olympic medal. He won the 2013 World Championship and took second at the 2015 World Championship. His top jump was 2.41 meters.

Drouin competes for Canada. He tied for the bronze at the 2012 Olympics and recently won the 2015 World Championship in the high jump. His top jump was also 2.38 meters.

Last night’s pole vault showed a lot can happen in the Olympics, as a relative unknown won the gold and vastly improved his PR. These three are the favorites for a reason, but it is really anyone’s game. Bondarenko goes in knowing he has the best PR of the group and that can do a lot for him tonight. I think he will show that tonight and grab the gold.
