Heisman Trophy finalist Chase Daniel (4,306 passing yards) is expected to lead Missouri’s high-powered passing attack again this season. He’ll have help in the form of the explosive Jeremy Maclin, who amassed 1,055 receiving yards and 375 rushing yards last season. The Tigers also welcome back linebacker Sean Weatherspoon (130 tackles), defensive end Stryker Sulak (six sacks) and safety William Moore (eight interceptions) on defense.
Missouri’s odds at the major online sports books are fairly consistent across the board. Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have established the Tigers’ odds to win the 2009 BCS Championship at 14/1, while Sportsbook.com and SBG Global have them at 15/1.
Missouri is going to put points on the board again this year and expect Daniel to close in on the 33 touchdowns he had as a junior last year. The sophomore Maclin is phenonal, but Daniel has other targets in the form of Tommy Saunders, Danario Alexander and Chase Coffman. While the secondary is a bit raw, Mizzou returns all three starters at linebacker. The Tigers are the favorites to win the Big 12 North Conference and they could sniff another title appearance if the defense can hold it together.
