Bettors Say Take Packers
Although Green Bay Packer bettors are being hampered by a pesky half point that isn’t stopping them from showing overwhelming support for the Pack. The Packers are currently -7.5 point spread betting line favorites over the New York Giants according to oddsmakers at online sports book Bodog. The over/under odds for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game have been set at 41.5 total points according to Bodog oddsmakers.
According to TheSpread.com’s NFL Public Betting Information the Packers are claiming 65% of the roughly 49,000 point spread bets that have been placed on this game at press time. Bettors hoping to wait until game day to get the betting line back down to Green Bay -7 may not want to even bother.
“ It’s very unlikely in my opinion that there will be enough point spread bets placed on the Giants in the time that is left until kick-off to move that line back down to Green Bay -7” said Michael Seaton, General Manager of www.thespread.com. “We have probably only seen about a third of the bets that will be placed on this game when it is all said and done but between the weather, the confidence in Brett Favre and the skepticism in Eli Manning it’s doubtful that if Packer bettors wait they will receive any better line than is available right now” said Seaton. “Sitting on 65% like that with less than 24 hours to go I wouldn’t even be surprised to see it jump to -8”.
NFC Championship Game bettors can also expect to see some late movement in the Giants/ Packers over/under odds. Depending on how the weather shakes out bettors could be looking at a .5 to 2.0 point change in the current total number of points.
