Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Packers a -3.5 point spread favorite. The over/under for this game has been set at 43 total points.
All indications are that quarterback Kyle Orton will be back under center for the Bears after missing last week’s loss against the Titans due to an ankle injury. Assuming he’s healthy and doesn’t suffer a setback, that’s a huge advantage for a Chicago team that sorely needs Orton to play well against a banged up Green Bay defense.
The Bears have had some success against the Packers over the past couple years and are 3-1 against the spread vs. Green Bay over the last three seasons. They’re also 3-1 straight up against Green Bay over the last three seasons and were 2-0 last year vs. the Packers ATS.
Both of these teams have offenses averaging 26.3 points per game, but the Bears are allowing a shade less than the Packers are at 21.6 PPG to 22.9 PPG. The main difference between these two squads is that Chicago is suffocating opponents’ running games, allowing just 74.9 yards per game, while Green Bay is surrendering a whopping 153.7 YPG. With the Bears averaging 110.6 YPG on the ground, they should be able to chew up some big yards and sneak out a win.
