Broncos Road Favs
The final game on the Week 1 NFL schedule is Monday night as the Denver Broncos travel to Oakland to take on the Raiders. Oddsmakers have made the Broncos 3-point favorites.
The Denver Broncos didn’t overturn their roster too much in the offseason instead they’ll rely on quarterback Jay Cutler developing his game. Cutler will be without his favorite receiver, Brandon Marshall, who is serving a two game suspension. The Denver defense has one of the best cornerback tandems in league, but the front seven needs to create more pressure than it did last season.
The Oakland Raiders have slowly amassed some nice young talent on both sides of the ball. They should be improved this season although a lot depends on how much quarterback JaMarcus Russell develops in his second season. The Raiders drafted explosive back Darren McFadden in the first round of the draft, and added DeAngelo Hall to an already stout secondary. The Raiders could compete this year if some of the younger plays step up.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Broncos 3-point favorites at home. The over under total has been set at 41. Current public betting information notes that 57% of bettors favor Denver -3. This is always a great matchup, although both teams are in a bit of flux. Denver will be competitive, but it’s hard to believe they’ll make a serious playoff run. And the Raiders are so young that it will take time before it all comes together. For this game though, we like the home team. We predict the Raiders over the Broncos 17-16.
Broncos at Raiders Game Odds, Spread & Over Under Total
Broncos –3 over 41
Raiders +3 under 41
