Cardinals Small Favs
Two NFC West rivals clash in San Francisco Sunday as the Arizona Cardinals take on the 49ers. Oddsmakers have made the Cardinals a slight 2.5-point favorite.
The Arizona Cardinals will start Kurt Warner at quarterback Sunday after the veteran held of youngster Matt Leinart in preseason. The Cardinals offense has the potential to be explosive with Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald at receiver, but Boldin is in the middle of a contract dispute and it’s unclear how his play will be affected. Arizona has done a nice job rebuilding their defense and feature a nice group of talented players.
The San Francisco 49ers are in transition mode after Mike Martz was hired to be the new offensive coordinator. “The Mad Scientist” has one of the more explosive offenses in the NFL, but it’s unclear if J.T. O’Sullivan is the right man to run it at quarterback. O’Sullivan, signed as a free agent this offseason, beat out former number one overall pick Alex Smith for the starting job. At least O’Sullivan has a fantastic back in Frank Gore to help him run the offense, and a talented defense.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Cardinals 2.5-point road favorites. The over under total has been set at 42. Current public betting information notes that 65% of bettors favor Arizona –2.5. This game features two young defenses with plenty of potential, but if the offenses get going the scoreboard might begin to light up. The Cards are the better overall team, but we’ll give the edge to the Niners at home. We predict the 49ers over the Cardinals 20-17.
Cardinals at 49ers Game Odds, Spread & Over Under Total
Cardinals –2.5 over 42
49ers +2.5 under 42
