Colts Slight Road Favs
In a rare matchup, the Indianapolis Colts travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings. Oddsmakers have made the Colts 1-point favorites in Week 2.
The Indianapolis Colts were absolutely embarrassed at home last Sunday night, losing to the Chicago Bears in the grand opening of Lucas Oil Stadium. Quarterback Peyton Manning looked out of rhythm without center Jeff Saturday protecting him, and the Colts’ defense was shredded by the Bears’ running game. If Indy can’t do a better job against the run this week, Adrian Peterson is sure to run wild and the Colts could fall to 0-2 on the season for the first time since Manning’s rookie year.
The Minnesota Vikings struggled against the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football, but played better in the second half. Peterson had a tremendous game, but quarterback Tarvaris Jackson struggled in the passing game. Minnesota was also helpless defending the pass, which could be a huge issue if Manning can get into a rhythm this weekend. The Vikings will need Peterson to be effective to keep Indy’s offense off the field and grind out a win.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Colts 1-point favorites. The over/under total has been set at 43.5 and current public betting information shows that 70% of bettors favor Indianapolis -1. Which matchup is more favorable: Peterson vs. a weak Colts’ run defense or Manning vs. a poor Vikings’ pass defense? It’s hard to fathom Indy losing back-to-back games. Expect the Colts to bounce back this week and perform better, even though the Vikings have home field advantage. We predict the Colts to romp the Vikings 31-20.
Colts at Vikings Game Odds, Spread & Over Under Total
Colts -1 over 43.5
Vikings +1 under 43.5
