Colts Big Home Favs
Sunday night offers a Super Bowl rematch from two years ago as the Indianapolis Colts host the Chicago Bears. Oddsmakers have made the Colts 9-.5-point favorites.
The Chicago Bears were quiet this offseason, choosing not to spend big money on free agents and instead concentrating on the draft. They selected offensive tackle Chris Williams in the first round, but he underwent back surgery and might miss the entire year. Besides Devin Hester and yet another year of solid defense, the Bears might disappoint this year if quarterback Kyle Orton and rookie Matt Forte can’t move the offense.
While questions remain about the health of quarterback Peyton Manning after he had a bursa sac removed from his knee in the offseason, the Indianapolis Colts looked stacked again. Their defense is smaller, but they fly to the football and create turnovers. If Manning is healthy, there’s no reason he and receivers Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison can’t light up the scoreboard yet again this year. Running back Joseph Addai has been excellent the last two years in keeping the Colts balanced offensively.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Colts 9.5-point favorites at home. The over under total has been set at 44. Current public betting information notes that 71% of bettors favor Indianapolis –9.5. With the Colts opening up their brand new stadium and Manning seemingly healthy, Indy should roll. The Bears have a solid defense, but without much offensive firepower, they could struggle to score points. We predict the Colts over the Bears 27-10.
Bears at Colts Game Odds, Spread & Over Under Total
Bears +9.5 over 44
Colts –9.5 under 44
