Cowboys MNF Favorites
The Monday Night Football matchup is a great one as NFC East rivals Dallas and Philadelphia will go head to head. Oddsmakers have made the Cowboys 6.5-point favorites in Week 2.
The Philadelphia Eagles looked like legitimate contenders in the NFC when they steamrolled the St. Louis Rams in Week 1. Quarterback Donovan McNabb was outstanding, throwing for multiple touchdowns against a brutal Rams’ secondary. Brian Westbrook was also outstanding in both the running and passing games, and the Philly defense stifled a St. Louis’ offense that was expected to bounce back this season. The Eagles will be heavily tested on both offense and defense in Dallas Monday night.
The Dallas Cowboys rolled into Cleveland last Sunday and crushed a Browns team that is expected to compete for a playoff spot in the AFC this year. Tony Romo had no trouble moving the ball downfield on the Browns’ secondary, and Marion Barber III chewed up yardage on the ground throughout the first half. The defense also flustered a good Cleveland offense, and the Dallas D will once again face a potentially explosive offensive unit led by McNabb and Westbrook.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Cowboys 6.5-point favorites. The over/under total has been set at 46.5 and current public betting information shows that 63% of bettors favor Philadelphia +6.5. Both of these teams looked so good in Week 1 that one has to believe the matchup Monday night will be a battle in Dallas. The Cowboys might have the better overall talent, but when healthy, McNabb always finds a way to keep Philly in games. This won’t be a blow out, but expect a shootout in Big D, even though both defenses are very good. We predict the Cowboys over the Eagles 33-30.
Eagles at Cowboys Game Odds, Spread & Over Under Total
Eagles +6.5 over 46.5
Cowboys -6.5 under 46.5
