Odds Favor Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles look to kick off the 2008 NFL Season on a high note when the host the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. Oddsmakers have made the Eagles 7.5-point favorites.
The St. Louis Rams had a tumultuous 2007 season – and that’s putting it lightly. Injuries ransacked their roster, from quarterback Marc Bulger to left tackle Orlando Pace missing most, if not all of the season. But both Bulger and Pace are healthy and the defense was upgraded with the addition of rookie Chris Long. Steven Jackson also got a new contract, which means the Rams will have their rock at running back for years to come.
There seemingly are high expectations again for the Philadelphia Eagles. The only question is will Donovan McNabb stay healthy. If he can, there’s no reason to think the Eagles can’t make the postseason and possibly even a Super Bowl appearance. With Brian Westbrook in the backfield and a solid defense, Philadelphia looks like a contender again in the NFC.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Eagles 7.5-point favorites at home. The over under total has been set at 44. Current public betting information notes that 79% of bettors favor Philadelphia –7.5. The Rams look healthy again on paper and should be improved, but it’s tough to win in Philadelphia, especially in the Eagles’ home opener. McNabb looked great at the start of last season and should have no problem picking apart the Rams’ secondary. We predict the Eagles over the Rams 31-17.
Rams at Eagles Game Odds, Spread & Over Under Total
Rams +7.5 over 44
Eagles –7.5 under 44
