Giants Heavy Road Favs
The New York Giants travel to St. Louis to take on the Rams this Sunday. Oddsmakers have made the Giants 8.5-point favorites in Week 2.
The defending Super Bowl champions got the 2008 NFL Season started off the right way with a win over division rival Washington last Thursday. Brandon Jacobs was a beast and Eli Manning led the Giants to 17 first half points. The defense was solid too, especially without Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora. The Giants have a tremendous opportunity to start the season 2-0 with how bad the Rams struggled last weekend.
The St. Louis Rams had a terrible start to the season, losing 38-3 to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. The offense, defense and special teams all struggled in the loss and there weren’t a lot of positives to draw from the game. The Rams won’t have it any easier this weekend against the defending champs.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Giants 8.5-point favorites. The over/under total has been set at 41.5 and current public betting information shows that 64% of bettors favor New York –8.5. Many football pundits thought the Rams would rebound after a horrible 2007 season, but if Week 1 was any indication, St. Louis will struggle again this season. Jacobs should be able to run roughshod over a struggle Rams’ defense, although St. Louis has enough offensive weapons to keep the game close. We predict the Giants over the Rams 33-17.
Giants at Rams Game Odds, Spread & Over Under Total
Giants –8.5 over 41.5
Rams +8.5 under 41.5
