Giants 4.5 Favorites
The 2008 NFL Season kicks off Thursday night as division rivals Washington and New York square off. Oddsmakers have made the Giants –4.5-point favorites.
Fresh off their Super Bowl victory, the New York Giants host NFC East Division rival Washington in the 2008 NFL Season opener. The G-Men are certainly a different team this year after losing defensive end Michael Strahan to retirement, tight Jeremy Shockey to a trade with New Orleans and Gibril Wilson to free agency (Oakland). But the offense remains largely intact and many think Eli Manning will take the next step forward this year.
As for the Redskins, they usher in a new season with a new coach and a new offense. Jim Zorn brings his West Coast Offense to Washington and while it might take time to learn, quarterback Jason Campbell seems to be learning the system quickly. Jason Taylor was added to upgrade the defense and the Skins look to make another postseason run.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Giants a –4-point favorite at home. The over under total has been set at 41. Current public betting information shows that 67% of bettors favor the Giants –4.5 over the Redskins.
Even though the Giants have a powerful offense, expect the Redskins to keep things close and since this is a division game, a low scoring affair might be in order. We predict the Giants over the Redskins 17-14.
Redskins at Giants Game Odds, Spread & Over Under Total
Redskins +4.5 over 41
Giants –4.5 under 41
