Pats Huge Favorites
Fresh off a 16-0 season, the New England Patriots hit the road to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in both team’s opener. Oddsmakers have made the Patriots a whopping 15.5-point favorite.
The New England Patriots are seemingly stacked and ready to go again this season, although quarterback Tom Brady might be playing with a broken bone in his foot. The secondary also looks thin on paper, although with Randy Moss, Laurence Maroney and a solid offensive line to put up plenty of points, it might not matter who the Pats’ defensive backs are this season.
The Kansas City Chiefs are in a rebuilding mode after struggling last season. Larry Johnson is healthy, but there are question marks surrounding quarterback Brodie Croyle and the offensive line. The defense should improve with the addition of rookie first round pick DT Glenn Dorsey, but the secondary looks like a potential weakness.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Patriots 15.5-point favorite on the road. The over under total has been set at 44. Current public betting information notes that 51% of bettors favor the Patriots –15.5. The point spread is high, but if last year was any indication, that shouldn’t stop bettors from wagering on the Patriots. Kansas City doesn’t offer much besides LJ in the offense so New England should roll. We predict the Patriots over the Chiefs 30-14.
Patriots at Chiefs Game Odds, Spread & Over Under Total
Patriots –15.5 over 44
Chiefs +15.5 under 44
