Friday’s Olympics Predictions
It’s another busy night in the Winter Olympics. Which athletes will come away with the victory in tonight’s featured events?
Women’s Super G
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Lindsay Vonn is favored to win the gold in this one, as she is getting odds of +160 to prevail. Sofia Goggia (+350) and Lara Gut (+600) are others with short odds. Vonn won the bronze in the Super G in the 2010 Olympics but hasn’t had much success in this event on the world stage. Nicole Schmidhofer is the 2017 world champion and is from Austria, which has produced the last three Olympic gold medalists in this event I don’t like Vonn as the favorite and Schmidhofer has +1800 odds that appeal to me. SUPER G PREDICTION: NICOLE SCHMIDHOFER +1800
Men’s Hockey: USA vs. Russia
The United States continues group play early Saturday when it takes on the Olympic Athletes from Russia. According to oddsmakers, Russia is the favorite of -500, while USA has a money line of +370. The spread is listed at 2.5 goals. The Russians suffered a surprise loss to Slovakia to open the games, a team the US defeated. However, Russia bounced back with an 8-2 win over Slovenia, a team the US lost to in OT. Russia has to win this game to advance to the next round, so I don’t see them being stopped. MEN’S HOCKEY PREDICTION: RUSSIA -500
Women’s Curling: Russia vs. USA
The United States continues pool play in women’s curling tonight when it faces Russia. Oddsmakers are listing Russia as a -170 favorite in this match while the United States has a money line of +130 to win. Both teams come into this match 1-2. They have one common opponents in Great Britain. The US defeated Great Britain 7-4, while Russia lost 7-5. Since the 2014 games, Russia has been a top-10 team in women’s curling while the United States is improving, but at a slower rate. I just don’t trust the Americans to win close matches in curling quite yet. CURLING PREDICTION: RUSSIA -170
