What post position did Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming draw for Saturday’s Preakness Stakes?

Always Dreaming will come out of the No. 4 post for the second leg of horse racing’s triple crown, which will be held at Pilmco Racecourse on Saturday. According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Always Dreaming is a 4/5 favorite to win the Preakness Stakes following his impressive performance in the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago.

Multiplier, meanwhile, drew the rail position on Wednesday. He’s one of the biggest long shots in the field, along with Term of Art (No. 7 post) and Senior Investment (No. 8 post), who are also 30/1, respectively. Cloud Computing drew the No. 2 post position and is 12/1, followed by Hence in the No. 3 post at 20/1.

Classic Empire, who is the biggest threat to Always Dreaming according to the odds, drew the No. 5 post position and is 3/1 to win on Saturday. Gunnevera is 15/1 and will start in the sixth gate, while Lookin At Lee is 10/1 and drew the No. 9 post. The contender that will start furthest from the rail is Conquest Mo Money at 15/1. He will start in the No. 10 post position.

Last year Exaggerator won the Preakness out of the No. 5 post position. The year prior it was triple crown winner American Pharoah, who won from the rail. In 2014, California Chrome won out of the No. 3 post while Oxbow won out of the No. 6 gate in 2013. In fact, there has been five winners out of five different post positions since 2012. The only post to produce multiple winners since 2009 is the No. 5 post, who also produced a winner in Shackleford (2011).
