Breeders Cup Payouts
The 2008 installment of America’s richest horse race is in the books.
More than 55,000 spectators turned out at Santa Anita race way to watch
this historic sprint.
They weren’t disappointed as Ravens Pass pulled off an enormous upset over the huge favorite Curlin.
Curlin, who was the 2007 Breeders Cup Classic Champion was never really a factor from the start. Despite a late rally Curlin was just not able to hold off the huge charge from Ravens Pass.

Curlin’s owner Jess Jackson chose to continue to train Curlin beyond his 2007 Breeders Cup Classic victory instead of retiring him to stud. Jockey Robbie Albarado had lead Curlin to over $10,000,000 in career earnings. At post time Curlin was a super-short 4/5 odds to win.
Ravens pass was a moderate long shot at 8/1 odds prior to post time. Ravens Pass’ upset significantly changes the payouts for the 2008 Breeders Cup Classic.
A Win on Ravens Pass paid $29.00 $15.80 and $8.00. A $2 trifecta wager paid an incredible $4790.00!
Prior to today’s race Ravens Pass has never won on a synthetic surface. Congrats to Ravens Pass on winning the $5,000,000 2008 Breeders Cup Classic.
