Phelps contends for gold again
Can Michael Phelps complete a perfect Rio Summer Olympics tonight when he battles for the 100-meter Butterfly title?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Phelps is the favorite to win this event in Rio, as he has -300 odds. Other short odds to win are Joseph Schooling (+250) and Chad Le Clos (+800) This event is scheduled to take place at 9:12PM tonight.
Phelps has managed to impress the world once again, winning four gold medals at these games already and now he looks to go for a fifth. He won the 200 butterfly already and won the 200 medley last night. He has won gold in this event at the last three Olympics as well.
Schooling competes for Singapore. He is looking to win his first Olympic medal tonight. He finished third at the 2015 World Championships in this event. LeClos competes for South Africa. He has already won a silver medal in the 200 freestyle at these games and won silver in this event at the 2012 Olympics. He took fourth at the 200 butterfly, losing to Phelps.
Phelps qualified fifth for this final in last night’s semifinals, but he had to swim his semifinal just 38 minutes after winning gold in the 200 medley. He has shown some fatigue when exiting the pool in these Olympics, but it hasn’t stopped the 31-year-old from putting on a show when he is in it. He may not have a great lane assignment in this race, but I wouldn’t bet against him. He will want to finish these Olympics in style.
