Women’s Shot Put Odds
The race to win gold in the Women’s Shot Put appears to be a three-competitor race. Here’s a look at the latest Rio Olympics odds.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Valerie Adams is favored to win the gold, as she has odds of -145 to prevail. The other short odds to win are Christina Schwanitz (+170) and Lijiao Gong (+285). The Rio Olympics continue today through Aug. 21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Adams competes for New Zealand. She has won the gold medal at the last two Olympic Games. She also won the 2013 World Championship. Her top throw in the event is 21.24 meters, which is a world record.
Schwanitz competes for Germany. She placed 11th at the Olympic Games in 2008 and was 10th at the 2012 Olympics. She recently won the 2015 World Championship and her top throw is 20.77 meters.
Gong competes for China. She took the bronze at the 2012 Olympics in the shot put and was second at the 2015 World Championships. Her top throw is 20.35 meters.
