Student Council Odds
The 2008 Breeders’ Cup Classic is Saturday October 25 and Student Council is one of the small long shots.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have established Student Council’s odds at 10/1.

Student Council won this year’s Pimlico Special, but outside of claiming victory, that race doesn’t hold a ton of significance to this year’s Breeders’ Cup because it was ran on a dirt track. (Santa Anita switched to a new synthetic turf.)
If you were looking to take something positive (again, outside of a victory) from Student Council’s win at Pimlico, is the familiarity the thoroughbred has with jockey Shaun Bridgmohan, who has ridden the horse in his past four races. “I got to ride him for the first time in the Pimlico Special where he came from off the pace. He rated a little closer in the Hollywood Gold Cup. I had him too far back in the Whitney but he was the only horse closing on Commentator that day,” said Bridgmohan.
One thing to love about Student Council is that he’s a pure route runner and excels at distances on pair with what he’ll run at the Classic this Saturday. Besides the Pimlico Special, he also holds past victories at the Pacific Classic and Hawthorne Gold Cup. He might be a long shot at 10/1, but Student Council has proven in the past that he’s a winner.
