Will Saints cover against Cowboys?

DALLAS, TX (The Spread) – The Cowboys host the Saints Sunday night on NBC at 8:30PM ET. New Orelans has opened the season 0-2 on the road, but are the Saints the right play for bettors?

Get Jay Dotson’s Expert Picks

The Saints have opened the season 1-2 straight up and ATS, while the Cowboys are 2-1 straight up and 2-1 ATS.  New Orleans managed to cover last week versus the Vikings, while the Cowboys came from behind and covered versus the Rams.  Dallas has proven to be one of those teams where you just don’t know which team is going to show up but the Cowboys can be dangerous.

New Orleans is off to a disappointing start to the season and this is one of those must wins to right the ship.  The Saints came into the season with Super Bowl aspirations and while it’s still very early in the season, they can’t stand to drop one to Dallas.

New Orleans has the Cowboys number in recent history as the Saints are 8-2 ATS versus Dallas in the last ten meetings.  Dallas is also on a 1-4 ATS slide in their last five home games.  The Saints just aren’t a strong road team as they are just 2-8 ATS in their last ten road games.  This game is being played on Sunday’s biggest stage as it’s the late game and I just don’t see Dallas coming through on a game like this.  It took all Dallas had to come away with a win over the Rams and another slow start like that here will have this game over early.  The Saints just seem to hit that extra gear versus Dallas and I look for Brees to light them up.

The public is backing the Saints and this time I agree. It’s not good practice to just blindly fade the public as sometimes the betting public is right. Look for the Saints to come away with the win and cover 28-21.
