Best Upcoming Boxing Bouts to Bet

Boxing is a great sport for betting, it is so closely aligned with betting that you often great superb odds, you get a great number of different things to bet on and bookmakers will often give out great offers for people who are wanting to try out boxing betting for the first time.

It is a sport that is great to bet on both before and also in play. It gives you a lot more options than, say, a sport like basketball. You can make a bet well before the fight, during the weigh in or even during the third round and it can still net you a good amount of money.

Last year wasn’t great for boxing with few really top quality fights and a great deal of focus on a bout between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather that was sideshow from the moment it started until the moment it ended. It was really a year to forget with even a top fight between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez overshadowed by the Mayweather and McGregor circus which was clearly more about money than actual boxing.

Fans of actual boxing though, are very excited about this year which should provide some really superb entertainment. There are some great fights coming up that are well worth considering putting onto a bet slip. They are going to be close fights, real battles and thus if you can work out who is going to win and you can decide on that, you are likely to get some great odds and good options for winning big when these fights happen. There are two which stand out as being particularly good, both from a betting and an entertainment point of view.

Anthony Joshua vs Joseph Parker (31st March)

For a long time, the heavyweight division was waiting for heroes to come along to lift and inspire the division back to its many high points. We have had fighters like Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier and Lennox Lewis in this division but for a few years it felt like a desolate division. Joshua looks likes a great candidate to bring back the good times and people are clearly excited about the fight. There are some superb Joshua vs Parker betting tips around, for people who are considering having a punt on the fight and it will be well worth watching when they meet in Cardiff. It is really hard to call but with the home crowd behind him, Anthony Joshua will be the big favourite. Make sure to put the date in your calendar.

Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez (5th May)

When these two met late in 2017, there were real fireworks. It was a great fight between two fighters who both rank amongst the best pound for pound fighters in the world. In fact, Golovkin sits top of the pile in the Ring’s rankings. That fight was a draw so plenty of people will be looking forward to seeing once and for all who is best. It should be a special fight, especially since it falls on Cinco de Mayo, which for Alvarez as a Mexican should be inspiring. Two of the best in the world in the same ring, what could be better.
