Quintana closing in on Froome
As the Tour de France moves to Stage 6, Chris Froome has seen his odds to win the event take a slight hit.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Froome remains the favorite, but he now has even +100 odds to take this year’s championship. Nairo Quintana has moved his odds from +135 to +125 and Fabio Aru remains at +1200. Stage 6 is a 118.4-mile, flat course from Arpajon-sur-Cere to Montauban. The stage will be held early on Thursday.
Stage 5 on Wednesday saw Belgium’s Greg Van Avermaet come out with the win by a large margin of 2 minutes and 34 seconds. Thomas De Gendt of Belgium finished in second place. The overall standings changed quite a bit, with Van Avermaet now holding a 5:11 lead on the field while Julian Alaphilippe is in second place.
Froome is currently in fifth place overall, 5:17 out of first. He finished 9th on Wednesday. Quintana is in seventh place overall, with the same deficit out of first place. He finished 15th on Wednesday. Aru sits in eighth overall after finishing 18th on Wednesday.
