Will Nyquist win the Triple Crown?
After claiming victory in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, will Nyquist go on to win the Preakness and the Belmont this year? Here’s a look at Nyquist’s Triple Crown odds.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the odds that Nyquist will win the Preakness are currently -170 for and +120 against. That means you’d have to lay $170.00 on a $100.00 bet to wager that Nyquist will win the Preakness on May 21. If you were to bet against Nyquist, you could win $120.00 on a $100.00 bet if he were to fall short.
Bet Nyquist’s Triple Crown Odds
Nyquist’s odds to win the Belmont Stakes on June 11 of this year are stacked against the colt. According to Bovada.lv, his odds of winning the Belmont are reversed from the Preakness, as he has odds of +120 to win at Belmont Park, and odds of -170 that he’ll come up short.
Thus, the odds that Nyquist will win the Triple Crown in 2016, which would be the second time in as many years that horse racing would crown a Triple Crown-winner, are +250 for, and -400 against.
Simply put, oddsmakers are stacking the odds against Nyquist to accomplish what American Pharoah did last year, which is to sweep the three Triple Crown races in the United States. And with how Exaggerator closed in on Nyquist Saturday at Churchill Downs, we can’t say we blame oddsmakers. Nyquist will have stiff competition to win at Pimlico and Belmont Park over the next month and a half.
