2016 Preakness Stakes Viewing Guide
What time is the 2016 Preakness Stakes this weekend? We’ve put together a quick-hit guide for Saturday’s race.
When is the Preakness Stakes this year?
The Preakness will be held on Saturday, May 21 this year at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. The race is scheduled to be run at 6:18PM ET and can be seen on television in the United States on NBC.
Who is favored to win this year?
That would be Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist, who is currently -140 according to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv. Exaggerator, who was the runner-up this year at Churchill Downs, has the next-best odds to win at 9/2, while Stradivari is 12/1. Gun Runner and Suddenbreakingnews are both 14/1, respectively, while Destin, Mor Spirit and Creator are all 16/1, respectively.
How did Nyquist fair before winning the Derby?
Quite well, in fact. He’s currently undefeated with eight straight wins to start his career. Outside of the Kentucky Derby, Nyquist also won the Florida Derby, the San Vicente Stakes, the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, the FrontRunner Stakes, the Del Mar Futurity and the Best Pal Stakes.
Will Exaggerator give Nyquist a run for his money?
He certainly did in the Kentucky Derby, closing down the stretch hard before coming up short in the end. Exaggerator hasn’t finished outside of the money since October 31 of last year, finishing first, second, or third in five consecutive races. A natural closer, Exaggerator is the most-likely to win at Pimlico if Nyquist is burned out from the Kentucky Derby.
