American Pharoah favored to win Travers
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (The Spread) – The 146th running of the Travers Stakes will take place this afternoon and Triple Crown winner American Pharoah remains a clear favorite to win.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the 2015 Triple Crown winner is a 1/5 favorite as we approach the 5:46PM ET post time. Frosted, meanwhile, has the next best odds to win at 6/1 while Texas Red is 8/1.
Continuing with the odds, Upstart is 15/1 while Mid Ocean is 50/1 and Frammento is 30/1. Tale of Verve is also 30/1, while King of New York is 50/1 and Smart Transition is 20/1.
The Travers Stakes is also commonly referred to as the “Graveyard of Favorites” for the way large favorites have often come up short at Saratoga Springs. American Pharoah is currently on an eight-start winning streak and hasn’t lost a race since August 9, 2014 when he finished fifth in a MSW. He last raced in the Grade I Haskell Invitational where he placed first ahead of Keen Ice and Upstart at Monmouth Park.
