Which female tennis player will find a way to claim the U.S. Open Championship when the tournament gets started next week? Here’s the latest odds.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Karolina Pliskova is listed as the favorite in this event, as she has 7/1 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Elina Svitolina (12/1), Johanna Konta (12/1), Maria Sharapova (12/1) and Victoria Azarkena (12/1). The U.S. Open takes place Aug. 28-Sept. 10 from the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.
Pliskova is a 25-year-old player from the Czech Republic. She is looking to win her first grand slam championship. She did reach the U.S. Open finals last year and has reached at least the quarters in two of the three grand slam events this year.
Svitolina is a 22-year-old from the Ukraine. She also is looking to win her first grand slam event. She has reached the French Open quarters twice, but not gotten past the fourth round in any of her other 18 tournaments, including five U.S. Opens.
Konta is a 26-year-old from Great Britain. She has appeared in 15 grand slam events, but has yet to win one. She has appeared in the semifinals twice, but has not escaped the fourth round in four U.S. Open appearances.
Sharapova is making her first appearance in a grand slam event since the 2016 Australian Open. The 30-year-old Russian won this tournament back in 2006 and has won five grand slam events in her career.
Azarenka is a 28-year-old from Belarus. She has won two grand slam events in her career, the 2012 and 2013 Australian Open. She has finished runner-up in the U.S. Open two times in her career and has reached at least the quarters in her last four appearances in this event.
