Opening Odds: Watch Me Go opened as a +5000 long shot on the money line to win this year’s Kentucky Derby. According to online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, Dialed In opened as the favorite at +350, while Uncle Mo is right behind him at +400 and Nehro is third at +600.
Current Odds: Nothing has changed for Watch Me Go, who is still +5000 according to oddsmakers. Along with Comma on the Top and Twinspired, Watch Me Go is the biggest long shot in this year’s Kentucky Derby. Of course, 2009 Derby winner Mine That Bird was also a +5000 long shot as well and everyone knows how his fate turned out two years ago.
Race History: In Watch Me Go’s most recent outing, he finished a disappointing sixth at the Illinois Derby (Grade 3) on April 9. But he did shock the field by finishing first at the Tampa Bay Derby (Grade 2) on March 3. He also won an Allowance on January 23 of this year, as well as an Allowance on September 11 of last year. His only other outing in 2011 came on February 12 when he finished third at the Sam F. Davis, which is another Grade 3 race.
Pre-Race Outlook: Even though he stunned Brethren at the Tampa Bay Derby, oddsmakers have Watch Me Go’s odds set right. While his trainer Kathleen O’Connell will have him ready for race day, he may not be good enough to shock the field this Saturday at the Kentucky Derby.
