Wednesday’s Olympic Picks
Which athletes will come away with Olympic gold medals in tonight’s big events? Here’s our Winter Olympics predictions for Wednesday night.
Men’s Super G
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Aksel Lund Svindal is the favorite in this one at +275, just narrowly ahead of Kjetil Jansrud (+300). Svindal, a skier from Norway, claimed the gold medal in the 2010 Olympics in the Super G, his only world title in the event. Jansrud, a fellow Norwegian skier, was the gold medal winner in the 2014 games. These two are very close, but I give the edge to Jansrud. He has had more success in recent years. Svindal has only stepped up in 2010, which is a long time ago. SUPER G PREDICTION: KJETIL JANSRUD +300
Team Luge
There doesn’t appear to be much competition in this one, as Germany is the heavy favorite at -2000. Austria (+1100) is the next closest when it comes to odds. Of the six medals handed out already at the Olympics in luge, Germany has claimed three of them. The Germans won the 2014 gold by more than one second. They also are the 2017 world champions in the event. Luge is a sport dominated by Germans at the time and I don’t see any surprising upsets happening tonight. TEAM LUGE PREDICTION: GERMANY -2000
Men’s Snowboard Cross
This one looks to be a nail-biter as both Alex Pullin and Pierre Vaultier come in as +350 favorites while Alessandro Hammerle is at +450 and two others sit at +500. Vaultier, from France, is the defending Olympic champion and he also won the most recent World Championship in 2017. Pullin, from Australia, came in third in that race. Pullin had some success in the early 2010’s but Vaultier has been the one to go with in recent world events. They are the same age but Vaultier has been more consistent recently. SNOWBOARD CROSS PREDICTION: PIERRTE VAULTIER +350
