Clemson Tigers Game Notes

Clemson sophomore quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei completed 18-of-25 passes for 114 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday’s 14-8 win over Georgia Tech. It was a weird game all around for everyone involved. With 32 seconds to go in the first half, a weather delay put the game on hold for roughly two hours before players could return to the field. You wouldn’t have known they returned to the field based on the score, as Clemson and Georgia Tech both went scoreless in the third quarter after Clemson entered halftime with a 7-3. Uiagalelei (6’4/250) was far from impressive in this one, as he failed to throw or run for a touchdown. He has only one touchdown pass to two interceptions on the season, and has not eclipsed 200-yards passing. Clemson has had a rough start to the season and now travel to NC State as they look to move their record to 3-1 on the season.

NC State Wolfpack Game Notes

NC State sophomore QB Devin Leary competed 30-of-49 passes for 303 yards with a touchdown and a interception in a 24-10 loss on Saturday to Mississippi State. Leary (6’1/212) had a big day in terms of yardage, but that overstates his effectiveness. He was inaccurate on a wide portion of his targets, and he wasn’t able to orchestrate scoring drives against a beatable Mississippi State defense. Leary should be the starter next week against Furman, and that’s a much easier task.

Clemson vs. NC State Betting Prediction

The road team has covered the spread in 14 of the last 20 meetings between these two teams while the Tigers are 7-3 against the number in their last 10 road games versus the Wolfpack. Clemson is also 14-4 against the spread in its last 18 road games, is 13-3 against the number in its last 16 games as a road favorite and is 22-9 ATS in its last 31 conference games. On the other side, the Wolfpack are 4-10 against the spread in their last 14 games versus a team with a winning record and are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games played in the month of September.
