Houston vs. East Carolina, 1/29/20 College Basketball Betting Predictions

Houston vs. East Carolina Prediction

The Houston Cougars are 9-1 in their last 10 games and will face an AAC foe tonight in East Carolina that is catching double-digits at the betting window as a home underdog. Is Houston still a reliable option or is there more value in the home dog or with the total?

Game Snapshot

Houston Player Spotlight

Fabian White Jr. had 14 points (6-11 FG, 0- 3PT, 2-2 FT) with five rebounds against Wichita State on Saturday. White was embarrassed in the Jan. 11 loss to Tulsa when he had zero points, but he’s bounced back strong over the last two contests with outings of 17 and 14. His 14 on Saturday played a big role in helping Houston pull the road upset over Wichita State, and he’ll look to carry over the momentum to Thursday’s clash with UConn.

East Carolina Player Spotlight

Jayden Gardner had 27 points (8-11 FG, 11-15 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists and three steals across 35 minutes in Saturday’s 81-62 victory over Tulane. Gardner continues to serve as one of the conference’s most elite fantasy assets, especially when matched up against teams near the bottom of the American standings. He’s averaged 21.3 points and 9.4 rebounds through seven AAC games, and his season-long average of 20.9 ppg is more than four points higher than the next closest player in the conference (Kendric Davis, 16.2 ppg).

College Basketball Betting Trends

Houston

The Cougars are 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games when facing an opponent with a home winning percentage of greater than .600.

East Carolina

The Pirates are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games versus a team with a winning road record.

College Basketball Prediction

This is a big number but Houston should get there. The favorite is 16-4-1 against the spread in the last 21 meetings between these two teams and the Cougars have been profitable at the window of late. They’re 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 games overall, are 8-2 against the number in their last 10 games when favored and have covered in 21 of their previous 28 road games. On the other side, the Pirates are just 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games coming off a win and have failed to cover in seven of their last nine games following an ATS win.
