Angels’ Tropeano wins despite giving up five home runs to White Sox
Nick Tropeano served up five home runs against the White Sox on Thursday, and still managed to secure his fourth victory of the season. All of the home runs were solo shots — two to Daniel Palka and one each to Jose Abreu, Nicky Delmonico and Avisail Garcia. In fact, those were the only five hits that he allowed, to go along with a pair of walks and seven strikeouts in his 6 1/3 innings of work. He’ll look to improve upon his 4.82 ERA and 1.32 WHIP when he does battle against the Rays on Wednesday in Tampa Bay.
Glasnow to make the first start for his new team
Tyler Glasnow will start for the Rays on Wednesday against the Angels. Glasnow was acquired from the Pirates on Tuesday afternoon as part of the return for Chris Archer. He had been working exclusively in relief this year in Pittsburgh and probably won’t go more than two or three innings in his Rays debut Wednesday, though the idea will be to get him fully stretched out soon. The former top-10 prospect could feasibly bounce back with a change of scenery and a return to a starting role.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are 2-11 in their last 13 road games versus a team with a winning record.
Tampa Bay
The Rays are a perfect 4-0 in their last four games versus the American League West.
Prediction:
The Angels have had a rough time beating the Rays, dropping eight of their last 10 games to Tampa following last night’s defeat. They’re also just 8-20 in their last 28 road games and have not fared well versus the American League East, losing seven of last nine against the division. The Rays, meanwhile, have won 21 of their last 28 home games and are 9-2 in their last 11 home games versus an opponent with a losing road record.
The Pick: Tampa Bay Rays
