Mets’ Matz fires six scoreless innings in win over Brewers
Steven Matz tossed six shutout innings in a win over the Brewers on Thursday. Matz gave up four hits and walked three but never gave in, turning in his first scoreless outing of the year to improve to 2-3. With the good turn, the left-hander owns a 3.80 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in nine starts. A start against the division-leading Braves is on tap for Tuesday
Braves’ Sanchez to start on Tuesday
Anibal Sanchez (hamstring) has officially been named the Braves’ starter for Tuesday’s game against the Mets. The Braves needed a starter following a doubleheader Monday and having Mike Soroka (shoulder) on the disabled list. Sanchez will be pitching on three days’ rest, but he threw just three innings last Friday in a rehab start. He’s been out since mid-April with a strained hamstring.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Mets are 4-0 in Matz’s last four road starts versus the Braves and are 5-1 in his last six outings versus Atlanta overall. The Mets are also 20-9 in their last nine games played in Atlanta but are just 1-5 in their last six games versus the Braves overall.
Atlanta
The under is 13-6 in the last 19 meetings between these two teams.
Prediction:
I think tonight’s matchup benefits the hitters. With these two teams playing a doubleheader on Memorial Day the pitching has been stretched on both sides. The Mets don’t possess a very good offense but they’re facing a pitcher in Sanchez that they should handle and the Braves have proven that they can generate runs against most pitchers.
