St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Dakota Hudson allowed four runs — three earned — over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Brewers on Saturday. Hudson had trouble keeping the ball in the park on Saturday, allowing three homers to the potent Milwaukee lineup. He also allowed seven hits and two walks, with the only real positive being the six strikeouts. An inauspicious start to the season for Hudson, who may not have a firm grasp on a starting spot at this point. He’ll look to rebound in his next start, which is scheduled for Saturday against the Padres.
Milwaukee Brewers Fantasy Spin
Christian Yelich went 1-for-5 with a homer in a 4-2 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday. It’s already the third homer of the season for Yelich, as he’s gone deep in the first three games of the year to open the campaign. It’s early, but the outfielder looks locked in to start the season. He may not be an MVP-quality player like he was in 2018, but it’s tough to not see him being one of the best outfielders in either league in 2019.
MLB Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Cardinals have not fared well when Michael Wacha faces the Brewers. St. Louis is just 1-4 in his last five outings versus Milwaukee.
Milwaukee
The Brewers have now beaten the Cardinals in six of the last seven meetings between the two clubs.
Prediction:
Wacha was in the midst of having an outstanding season when an oblique injury sidelined him for most of the second half last year. Burnes, meanwhile, is set to make his first major-league start after an excellent stint in the bullpen last season. When completely healthy, Wacha is outstanding and I like the value that oddsmakers have given us with the Cardinals, who are even money today. The Cards are 10-4 in Wacha’s last 14 starts and 6-1 in his last seven outings versus NL Central foes.
The Pick: St. Louis Cardinals +100
