Washington Nationals Fantasy Spin
Brian Dozier went 1-for-2 with a three-run homer in a loss to the Rockies on Monday. Dozier crushed a three-run homer off of Tyler Anderson to chase the southpaw, and it gives the infielder four homers in a Washington uniform. He also walked twice, and his OPS raises to .669. The bad news here is that a strong game raises what was one of the best second baseman in baseball’s OPS to .669. Dozier has time to turn this around — and has looked better — but he’s a far cry from the player he was a short time ago.
Colorado Rockies Fantasy Spin
Nolan Arenado went 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and three runs scored on Monday in a 7-5 victory over the Nationals. Arenado’s homer gave the Rockies a 6-5 lead in the eighth, and it was his 1,000th hit of his MLB career. He also doubled twice, and after a slow start to the season — especially by his standards — he now owns a .281/.337/.483 line. Something tells us that line is going to get even better as the season ages, and that thing is called “common sense.” Expect many more games like this over 2019 and beyond.
MLB Betting Trends
Washington
The Nationals are now just 1-4 in their last five meetings with the Rockies.
Colorado
The Rockies have won seven of their last eight games overall and are 4-1 in their last five games at Coors Field.
Prediction:
It’s temping just to take the Nationals on the money line but their current price is -141 and starter Patrick Corbin has some ugly numbers at Coors Field. (The Rockies are also familiar with Corbin, who pitched in the National League West as a member of the Diamondbacks.) The better bet in my eyes is to fade Colorado starter Chad Bettis, who just last week was moved to the Rockies’ bullpen because he owned an 8.78 ERA over three starts. There’s a chance that Jeff Hoffman starts tonight instead, as the Rockies have yet to officially announce a starter. Either way, I see the Nationals’ lineup going off tonight at Coors, making their 5.5 team total appealing.
The Pick: Nationals Team Total OVER 5.5 Runs (-115)
