LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – Floyd Mayweater Jr. and Victor Ortiz hit the scales on Friday to make their WBC Welterweight Championship bout on Saturday official.

The champion, Victor Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KO’s) hit the scales first and came in at a weight of 147 pounds, the limit to compete in the fight. Mayweather Jr. (41-0, 25 KO’s) then tipped the scales and came in at a weight of 146.5 for the welterweight championship bout.
Both men attempted to one-up the other through intimidation and gamesmanship, but nothing came of it. The hype men of both fighters were more active than the actual fights. The two had an intense stare down, getting nose-to-nose, to put a cap on the weigh-in event as the fight will take place from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and air live on Pay-Per-View at 9PM ET on Saturday night.
According to oddsmakers, the latest odds still have Mayweather as the overwhelming favorite to win this bout, with odds of -625. The champion, Ortiz, comes in with odds of +425. The over/under for rounds in the bout has been set at a lofty 11.5.
Mayweather is undefeated in his career and uses his speed and quickness to out-point his opponents while Ortiz is known for his power and aggression. If Mayweather proves to be too quick to hit, he will likely be adding another championship to his collection.
