UFC 162 will take place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with the main card bouts airing live on PPV at 10PM ET. All odds are according to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv.
UFC MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT – Anderson Silva (33-4) vs. Chris Weidman (9-0)
Many are calling for Weidman to put an end to the title reign of Silva, but I just don’t see. Weidman hasn’t fought the level of competition that Silva has, and he hasn’t proven his wrestling is elite enough to negate Silva’s striking. Weidman has some decent striking of his own, but he is nowhere near the speed and accuracy level of the champion. With the odds for Silva about as low as I have ever seen, I’d jump on them. UFC 162 FREE PICK – Anderson Silva -240
UFC FEATHERWEIGHT BOUT – Frankie Edgar (15-4-1) vs. Charles Oliveira (16-3)
Edgar is fighting in a three-round bout for the first time in a few years, but that shouldn’t be an issue for him. He will push a fast pace and mix up his striking and grappling to keep Oliveira guessing. Oliveira doesn’t have the strength to stop Edgar’s takedowns, and his striking isn’t precise enough to land a lot of big punches on Edgar. I see the former UFC lightweight champion getting a decision win here. UFC 162 FREE PICK – Frankie Edgar -550
UFC MIDDLEWEIGHT BOUT – Mark Munoz (12-3) vs. Tim Boetsch (16-5)
I like Munoz in this one because he pushes a faster pace and he has the wrestling ability that Boetsch lacks. Boetsch is a heavy hitter, but he tends to tire when fights push into the second round and beyond. Munoz is more accustomed to fighting for lengthy amounts of time and I think his conditioning will be the difference, as he will get a submission win in the third. UFC 162 FREE PICK – Mark Munoz -135
