Aldo (23-1) didn’t find himself in too much danger, but he also didn’t overwhelm Jung in the fight. Aldo surprisingly threw just one kick and used more grappling then he usually does to earn the first three rounds. In the fourth round, Jung appeared to separate his shoulder after throwing an overhand right. Clearly in pain, Jung was essentially helpless. Aldo immediately jumped on Jung and finished him up with a flurry of strikes before the referee stopped the fight. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Aldo had odds of -750 to retain his title on Saturday, which means a wager of $750 on him to win will pay out an additional $100.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card saw Phil Davis (12-1) stun Lyoto Machida (19-4) by unanimous decision. The result was somewhat surprising, as it appeared Machida controlled most of the fight, but Davis picked up takedowns late in the first and second rounds, which appeared to have won him the fight. Machida clearly won the third and final round, but Davis was awarded the first two rounds of the fight on all three scorecards. According to oddsmakers, Davis had odds of +265 to win this fight, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $265.
