Hendricks (15-2) looked to have won the fight in many people’s eyes. But, St. Pierre (25-2) managed to earn the win, 48-47 on two of the three scorecards. Hendricks was devastated upon the announcement, as he seemed to control the fight for most of the 25 minutes, clearly doing more damage. St. Pierre picked up steam and landed more strikes toward the end, but none that really seemed to rattle the challenger. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, St. Pierre was favored to win this fight, as he had odds of -260 to win. That means a wager of $260 on St. Pierre to win will pay out an additional $100.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card saw Rashad Evans (19-3-1) pickup an impressive victory over Chael Sonnen (28-14-1). Evans made short work of his broadcast partner, finishing him in the first round thanks to some brutal ground and pound. Sonnen came out aggressive and looked for an early takedown, but Evans proved to be too strong for Sonnen. Eventually Evans scored the takedown and quickly landed big elbows and fists to earn the stoppage at 4:05 of the first round. According to oddsmakers, Evans had odds of -190 to win, which means a wager of $190 on Evans will pay out an additional $100.
