The UFC Fight Night 26 will take place from TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts with the main card bouts airing live on the new FOX Sports 1 at 8PM ET on Saturday.
The main event of Saturday’s card is a light heavyweight clash between Chael Sonnen (27-13-1) and Mauricio Rua (21-7). According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Sonnen is the slight favorite to win this bout, as he has odds of -140 to win, while Rua has a money line of +110 to prevail. Sonnen comes into this bout with a strong wrestling background and great cardio while Rua has an aggressive and powerful striking talent but lacks in conditioning. The longer this fight goes, the more it favors Sonnen. Sonnen has been knocked out in the past, but he is a very gritty fighter and can grind out wins through wrestling and ground and pound.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card is a heavyweight clash between Alistair Overeem (36-12) and Travis Browne (14-1-1). According to oddsmakers, Overeem is the favorite to win this bout, as he has odds of -225 to win, while Browne has been given a money line of +175. Both men are tremendous strikers, with Overeem having a specialty in kickboxing and Browne being more of the muay thai style. Overeem hasn’t competed since February, when he was knocked out by Antonio Silva. Browne has won four of his last five, with three of those wins coming in the first round. Browne doesn’t want to get into a slugfest with Overeem. Overeem can hit hard and be precise. Browne needs to make Overeem work and tire him out. As the fight moves on, it should favor Browne.
