The UFC on FOX 8 will take place from KeyArena in Seattle, Washington with the main card bouts airing live on FOX at 8PM ET on Saturday.
The main event of Saturday’s card is a battle for the UFC Flyweight Championship with Demetrious Johnson (17-2-1) defending his title against John Moraga (13-1). According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Johnson is the clear favorite to defend his title, as he has been given odds of -500 to win, while Moraga has a money line of +350 to prevail. Johnson is the only flyweight champion in UFC history and he is currently 3-0-1 as a flyweight in the UFC. His speed and explosive takedowns have led him to be the clear champion of the division. Moraga is 2-0 in the UFC, with both wins coming by stoppage. The two do have a common opponent in John Dodson, who Moraga lost a decision to, and Johnson just defeated in his last title defense. This fight should have a lot of action and push a very fast pace, but Johnson has the experience in big UFC fights that Moraga doesn’t have.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card is a big welterweight bout between Rory MacDonald (14-1) and Jake Ellenberger (29-6). According to oddsmakers, MacDonald is the favorite in this bout, as he has odds of -240 to win, while Ellenberger has a money line of +190 to prevail. Both of these men are in the top 5 of the division and both have very well-rounded skills. MacDonald is coming off a dominant win over B.J. Penn and he has won four straight in impressive fashion. Ellenberger has won two straight and eight of his last nine. He is coming off a first round KO of Nate Marquardt and is looking to become the No. 1 contender in the division with a win over MacDonald. The key to the fight could be size. Ellenberger is more compact, while MacDonald is lengthy and will be able to control the range in the stand-up portion of the fight. Both men have KO power and both men have great wrestling. Strength and conditioning will likely lead to the winner.
