The UFC on FUEL TV 10 will take place from Paulo Sarasate Gymnasium in Fortaleza, Brazil with the main card bouts airing live on FUEL TV at 8PM ET on Saturday.
The main event of Saturday’s card features Fabricio Werdum (16-5-1) taking on Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (34-7-1) in a bout of two legendary Brazilian fighters. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Werdum is the favorite to win this fight, as he has a money line of -300, while Nogueira has been given odds of +240 to win. These two met back in 2006 in PRIDE, with Nogueira getting a decision victory, but both are in different places in their career right now. Werdum seems to be hitting his prime, as he has won his last two fights since coming back to the UFC, and done so in impressive fashion. His striking has greatly improved and he is still one of the toughest submission fighters in the heavyweight division. Nogueira is coming toward the end of his career, as he has lost three of his last six bouts. He still is a very dangerous fighter on the ground, but is a step slow in his striking, which could be a problem in this bout. With this fight being a potential five rounds, conditioning could play a major role in determining the winner.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card is a light heavyweight clash between two Brazilians as well, as Thiago Silva (14-3) faces Rafael Cavalcante (11-3). According to oddsmakers, Cavalcante is the favorite to win this bout, as he has odds of -210 to win, while Silva has a money line of +170 to prevail. Cavalcante is making his UFC debut after spending time as light heavyweight champion in Strikeforce. He is a powerful striker that has 10 of his 11 wins by knockout. Silva is in a bit of a funk, as he is 1-3 with 2 no contests in his last six bouts. Despite all that, Silva is a very powerful striker that has solid grappling skills as well. Silva will bring the fight to his opponent, which means someone is likely to get knocked out in this fight. This bout will likely come down to which fighter lands the big punch first.
