UFC 179 will take place from the Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil with the main card bouts airing live on PPV at 10PM ET.

The main event of Saturday’s card is a bout for the Featherweight Championship with Jose Aldo (24-1) defending his crown against Chad Mendes (16-1). According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Aldo is favored to retain his title, as he has odds of -210 to prevail, while Mendes has a money line of +170 to prevail. Aldo is the only UFC featherweight champ to exist. His last loss came in 2005. Mendes has won five straight since losing to Aldo in January of 2012 by first-round KO. Since that loss, Mendes has been on a tear, knocking out four of his five opponents. Mendes has a strong wrestling background, so standing with Aldo could lead to problems.

The co-main event of Saturday’s event is a light heavyweight battle between Phil Davis (12-2) and Glover Teixeira (22-3). According to oddsmakers, Teixeira is favored to win the fight, as he has a money line of -340 to prevail, while Davis has a money line of +260. Teixeira hasn’t fought since losing to champ Jon Jones in April. It was the first UFC loss for the powerful striker. Davis is coming off a loss to Anthony Johnson in April as well. It snapped a three-fight win streak for the wrestler. The key to this fight will be where it takes place. If standings, Teixeira should have the edge. If it’s a grappling bout, Davis should be able to win.
