Cerrone to face Henderson on Jan. 18
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – Donald Cerrone competed in a 15-minute fight last Saturday, but that isn’t stopping him from getting back into action on January 18.
Cerrone defeated Myles Jury last Saturday night in the co-main event of UFC 182 by decision. Cerrone took little punishment in the fight and when news came that Eddie Alvarez came down with the flu and had to withdraw from his upcoming fight with Benson Henderson, Cerrone decided to step in.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the opening odds for this fight have Henderson as the slight favorite, as he is getting a money line of -155 to win, while Cerrone is being given a money line of +125 to win this bout. This two will meet in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night on Sunday, Jan. 18 from Boston. The card will air on Fox Sports 1 at 10PM ET.
These two actually met twice in the now-defunct WEC. Henderson won both meetings. The first encounter in October of 2009 was a classic five-round battle that Henderson won by decision. The two then met in April of 2010, with Henderson winning by submission in the first round when he caught Cerrone in an air-tight guillotine. Henderson is coming off a KO loss to Rafael dos Anjos in August while Cerrone has won six straight fights, including a decision over Alvarez, the original opponent.
