According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, Silva is the favorite in this bout, as he is getting odds of -265 to win, while Bisping is getting a money line of +210 to prevail. These two meet in the main event of UFC Fight Night, which takes place from London, England today at 4PM ET and airs live on UFC Fight Pass.
Silva (33-6) is the greatest middleweight in UFC history and was the champion of the division from 2006-13. However, he is 0-2 with 1 no contest in his last three fights. The two losses came against Chris Weidman while the NC was last year after a decision win over Nick Diaz. Silva failed a drug test for PED use and was suspended a year. He hasn’t fought since Jan. 31 of last year. Bisping (27-7) has won his last two fights, last beating Thales Leites by decision on July 18. He is just 6-4 in his last 10 fights.
If this matchup was made a year or two ago, Silva would be favored by an overwhelming amount. However, oddsmakers see this fight much closer, likely due to Silva’s long layoff and a question of performance drop-off after a failed drug test. Still, he should have his speed and accuracy early on against Bisping, who is more of a striker than a grappler. Silva should be able to beat Bisping to the punch and keep him rattled. Bisping is a tough opponent that is fighting in his home country, but he has struggled to beat the upper echelon of opponents and he will once again come up short in this fight.
UFC FIGHT NIGHT FREE PICK: ANDERSON SILVA -265
