Pettis (18-2) is the defending champion looking to make his second straight title defense. He has won his last four fights by stoppage in the first or second round. Dos Anjos (23-7) has won three straight fights coming into this bout, including a KO victory over former champ Benson Henderson. Dos Anjos defeated Nate Diaz via a dominant decision back in December.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Pettis is the favorite to win this fight, as he has odds of -450 to win, while Dos Anjos has a money line of +325 to prevail. This fight is the main event of UFC 185, which will be held from the American Airlines Center. The fight will air live on PPV at 10PM ET.
This fight will likely feature some striking in the early going. Pettis definitely has the edge in regards to technique and diversity. Dos Anjos has good power, but is much more of a wild swinger. Dos Anjos’ strength is his ground and submission game. He will ideally want to get Pettis on the ground, but the champion has shown great submissions off his back as of late, tapping out both Ben Henderson and Gilbert Melendez in his last two fights. Pettis could be the most under-valued fighter in the UFC right now and that is a reason he is the big favorite to win.
