Bet on Jan. Being a Big Month for WWE
January isn’t just the start of another year but the start of the Road to WrestleMania.
The weekly shows on American television and the Royal Rumble event will give us plenty of clues as to April’s two-day event. Those looking to bet on US professional wrestling will be anxiously looking at the trends that indicate who will be main eventing in Los Angeles on April 1 and 2.
You might be surprised that there is betting on professional wrestling. Whether it’s WWE or their main American rivals AEW, there are always odds offered by some of these New York online sportsbook operators. Yes, the results are predetermined but the fans can’t say who is going to win for sure, so neither can those looking to place bets with US gambling sites.
It’s the companies who decide who wins and who loses. Plans may change but sometimes they work months ahead, especially when it comes to a major event such as WrestleMania which is the biggest wrestling show in the US. If you want to have a good idea on who to bet on, then following wrestling inside and outside the ring is a must.
Outside the ring is possibly even more important than what happens inside it. There’s all the gossip to keep up with and the injury list to be aware of. There may well be plans at present for a major match at WrestleMania featuring Roman Reigns. However, an injury or illness can change all of that in a second.
Any disciplinary problems can also cause major changes to matches already planned. Someone not in favor with the bosses can soon see them being either suspended or losing out on the big matches that were planned for them. Then they watch the value of their checks plummet.
2022 began with the Day One event and the main event was due to see Roman Reigns face Brock Lesnar. Yep, another match between the pair and more were to come! Reigns was then pulled from the show and those working out the odds at US online sportsbooks went into panic mode. Lesnar ended up winning the WWE title rather than challenging for the Universal title.
See how a predetermined event suddenly becomes a nightmare to bet on. Just what might happen in January therefore is again difficult to predict.
There are many factors that will determine what will happen in January, especially at the Royal Rumble event. Remember all that planning months ahead comment? One suggested plan for WrestleMania is a match between Roman Reigns and The Rock. It’s a guaranteed blockbuster and a match that fans haven’t seen or had the chance to bet on with US betting companies in the past.
The Rock is related to Reigns and that makes a great story without any effort required. Reigns is the ‘Tribal Chief’ and ‘Head of the Table’ but you can bet The Rock doesn’t agree with any of that. Just whether we see this match depends on whether it fits in with the busy film schedule that the Rock (aka Dwayne Johnson) always seems to have.
If he can make time for one more run in WWE, then the odds of him facing Reigns will shorten. So would the odds on The Rock making an appearance at and winning the men’s Royal Rumble to earn himself a title shot at WrestleMania.
It’s not a match that needs a title attached to it though. WWE could go down the route of having Reigns v The Rock as a ‘Head of the Table/Tribal Chief’ decider. Let The Rock take part in the Royal Rumble but see Reigns cost him his chance of winning it. Bingo, the feud goes up another level and a WrestleMania main event is created. That would really enhance one of America’s biggest sporting events.
That’d leave space for them to create a match for the Undisputed WWE Universal title between two of their other top wrestlers.
Again, it’s what is happening outside the actual matches that you need to keep a close eye on. Who do the WWE bosses favor and want to give a push and put them in top matches? That’s something you need to work out, especially if betting on a Royal Rumble match.
Wrestlers such as Drew McIntyre, Riddle, Cody Rhodes, Lashley or Seth Freakin Rollins all could be considered for top matches at WrestleMania. Then there are others outside of WWE who US sportsbooks are prepared to offer odds on.
Tyson Fury has been in WWE in the past and made an appearance for them earlier this year. Not in the US but in Wales for the ‘Clash at the Castle’ event. He has a busy schedule though and might not appear again for a while.
Logan Paul recently main evented for WWE as the US company staged a show in Saudi Arabia. He’s signed a contract with the company so is likely to be at WrestleMania. Bad Bunny might also make another appearance. He proved to be a big hit when appearing for America’s top pro wrestling company.
January. Is a time to ensure you follow WWE very closely to see just what the month will produce in terms of WrestleMania match-ups. You can bet that every effort will be made by the company to come up with something special.
