Mayweather vs. Pacquiao is set for Saturday, May 2 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. This fight will have the Unified WBA (Super), WBC, WBO and The Ring welterweight championships up for grabs.
Mayweather is very difficult to hit cleanly, which makes him tough to knockdown. The last time he was sent to the ground was in a fight with Shane Mosley back in 2010. He has great punching power, but counter-striking style doesn’t lead to a lot of knockdowns unless he starts to overwhelm his opponents in the later rounds.
Pacquiao is an aggressive fighter, who would probably like this fight to turn into a brawl. However, that can lead to a knockdown occurring to him as much as it can a knockdown to Mayweather. He was knocked out cold by Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012 coming in too aggressive and Mayweather has the power to send him to the mat if he hits him clean with a counter punch. Pacquiao has the ability to knock down Mayweather, but he may come into the fight with more composure, knowing he is taking on the an unbeaten and fast fighter.
