Jacobs vs. Alvarez Prediction
One of the big names in boxing returns to the ring tonight when Canelo Alvarez takes on Daniel Jacobs in a bout for the WBA (Super), WBC, The Ring and IBF Middleweight championships.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Alvarez comes into the bout as the clear favorite, as he is listed with a money line of -450 to win. Jacobs is listed with odds of +375 to prevail. Saturday’s bout will air live on the new DAZN streaming service. The main card begins at 9PM ET from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Bet on Jacobs vs. Alvarez Odds
Canelo Alvarez
Saul “Canelo” Alvarez steps into tonight’s bout with a 51-1-2 record over his career with 35 knockouts. Alvarez is the WBA (Super), WBC, The Ring and lineal middleweight champion and will be defending those belts tonight. Alvarez last competed on December 15, which was a third-round TKO of Rocky Fielding. That was following two tough bouts with Gennady Golovkin in which he went 1-0-1. Alvarez hasn’t lost since taking a decision defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr. back on Sept. 14, 2013. He has scored five KO’s since that time as well.
Daniel Jacobs
Daniel Jacobs is 35-2 in his career and he is the IBF middleweight champion. He will be defending that belt in tonight’s fight. He is riding a three-fight win streak right now, including a split decision over Serhiy Derevianchenko back on October 27. His last loss was a decision to Golovkin, which came on March 18, 2017. Jacobs has 29 KO’s in his career, but he hasn’t had one since September of 2016.
Prediction
This seems like it should be Alvarez’ bout. He is four years younger than his opponents and has faced much tougher opponents over his recent career. Jacobs wasn’t able to get past GGG, while Alvarez did score a decision win over him. Canelo has the better all-around package, as he’s quick and still has good power to work with. Jacobs hasn’t shown that power over recent fights and I think he is going to struggle going toe-to-toe with Canelo tonight.
Boxing Prediction: Canelo Alvarez -450
