Hendricks vs Lawler breakdown

LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – The UFC Welterweight Championship is up for grabs on Saturday when Johny Hendricks takes on Robbie Lawler for a second time. Can Hendricks retain his belt?

View Real-Time Sports Betting Odds

Hendricks is the welterweight champion and coming into this fight at 16-2 while Lawler is the challenger with a 24-10 record. These two met back at UFC 171 on March 15 of last year with Hendricks winning a close decision. Hendricks dealt with an arm injury for that fight and hasn’t fought since while Lawler has beaten two top contenders since losing to Hendricks.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Hendricks enters this fight as the favorite to win once again, as he has been given a money line of -210 to prevail, while Lawler has been given odds of +170 to win. This bout will take place on Saturday night from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

The first bout between these two saw a slugfest. Each fighter landed some serious punches, which typically knock opponents out. Each showed fatigue at times and both lacked much energy in the fifth and final round, but Hendricks managed to score a takedown to secure the win in the judges’ eyes. The key to this fight will be conditioning and one has to wonder if Hendricks will be a much stronger fighter this time around, assuming he isn’t dealing with an injury.
